What is Digital Learning (DL)?
Digital Learning (DL) is best for self-motivated learners. Students set their own pace and complete lessons independently. Students hand in assignments online, and when the student is ready, they schedule their tests with their teacher. When students need help, they contact their teacher and schedule an in-person, virtual, or phone call meeting.
Virtual learning allows far more freedom so students can choose where and when they want to complete coursework. Students have access to an online curriculum 24/7, ask questions when they need, and schedule the pace of the course with their teacher.
- Student work is completed online,
- Office hours are available digitally or at iLearn campuses,
- Students complete the course at their own pace,
- Students (typically) write tests/quizzes in class.
If you are an online school does that mean courses are completed entirely online?
Curriculum is delivered entirely online and students have access to their lessons 24/7. Students complete Digital Learning courses online and come in to an iLearn campus for tests, quizzes, and office hours with their teacher when requested.
Should I start in Blended Learning or Digital Learning?
It’s entirely up to you. Students who are new to online learning find the Blended Learning (BL) format helps maintain a weekly schedule. That said, other students familiarize themselves with the Digital Learning environment fairly quickly and are confident enough to start in Digital Learning.
What happens if I fall behind in coursework?
Students who fall behind will be emailed iAlerts to let the student and parents know the coursework is not being completed according to the pace set by the student and their teacher. If a student needs an extension due to health, travel, or other personal reasons, we can accommodate their extension requests.
Both my boys are very happy attending iLearn Secondary School. My sons had very little experience with technology before attending iLearn, and now they feel compelled to teach me what they are learning. My boys feel so secure at iLearn that they both wouldn’t go to any other school. The change in concentration and commitment throughout their high school has helped them prepare for what they want to do after graduation.
